Deleting a branch is permanent. Although the deleted branch may continue to exist for a short time before it actually gets removed, it CANNOT be undone in most cases. Continue?
This should be working for new paths now but due to a bug in Drupal we'll need extra steps to generate for old paths (bulk generate in the module doesn't do it). cc @dinarcon if you happen to remember the trick / patch / drush command ...

Tried to make a module for this so all could benefit, as this is not a unique need— https://www.drupal.org/project/retro_use_pathauto —but could not so fell back to an SQL query, which allows URL generation through
/admin/config/search/path/update_bulk
as one would expect.This should be finally fine on live.
