An editor can remove the formatting of text.

The remove format button (the underlined T with a small x next to it) removes styles and alignment; it does not remove block-level formats (heading level 3 for example) or links.

Remove citation output from stories in search results

Done and awaiting deployment.

Note that https://geo.coop/articles uses a different view mode for listed stories; this bug/feature never affected that page.

A visitor should be able to get to the search page without performing a search

Technically, pressing the search icon next to the search bar does this, taking one to: https://geo.coop/search?search_api_fulltext=
